LISC/Chicago’s New Communities Program: Getting the Job Done
Chicago is a city of neighborhoods with community members that care about the areas they live, play, learn and work in.
On March 26-27, more than 900 neighborhood leaders, community development professionals, foundation executives and corporate funders gathered at the UIC Forum of the University of Illinois at Chicago to collect new tools to improve communities and learn how to “get it done.”
That’s the theme of the New Communities Program (NCP), a long term initiative ofLocal Initiatives Support Corporation/Chicago. NCP aims to support comprehensive community development in 16 Chicago neighborhoods.
Valerie Denney Communications managed logistics, developed the framework for conference programming—particularly eight breakout sessions—created all event materials, and provided overall project management. A powerful session spanning two days and seventeen hours, the event took several months of extreme planning preparation.
